Mini stockings |
This week I am busy knitting mini stockings for two fairs I'm attending.
Last week I made some red glittery cinnamon scented play dough for the children at school. It has got to be the easiest recipe ever - no saucepans or bowls with mix welded to it! You need
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup salt
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup of
boiling water
Mix it all together and knead. It will make your hands lovely and soft.
|
just mix |
No need to cook it - the boiling water does it for you. I added red food colouring, glitter and some cinnamon. I've made black sparkly, white with toothpaste (scent and colour) whatever takes your fancy. It will keep in an airtight container for about a month - depending on any other items that get mixed with through play. It would make a great gift for any child of whatever age!

I used to use a recipe similar to this when I was a childminder (many years ago!) but never thought to make it sparkly - what a fab idea!
Gorgeous mini-stockings. Love the sparkling play-dough - such a great idea
Love your sparkly dough I bet that keeps the little monkeys quiet. Those little stockings are gorgeous, would be lovely as a garland
Now that really is a simple recipe that most people would already have the ingredients at home for. Like your little mini stockings too. Hugs Mrs A.
What a simple yet practical idea, I don't have any children of my own but i'm tempted to make some for myself to play with! Loving the mini stockings too, they're really cute and so many designs are possible. x
Fabulous idea! Darent add cinnamon as flop would eat it! But may give the glitter a go for her :)
Think I'll come back to this once my LO's big enough for playdough. Love the sparkles in it.
Oh my, gotta share this with friends with kids! Wonderful! :)
Quite a coincidence - we've both made cinnamon related blog posts for Handmade Monday :-D
One good thing about this recipe is that if the smell of cinnamon makes you hungry, you are already partially set up to cook something.
I love salt dough, the sparkles in it are lovely.
Loved your pumpkin in the previous post too.
